Trust and Consequences: A Virtual Event Featuring Washington Post/Pulitzer-Prize-Winning Reporter Hannah Dreier

This virtual event recognized and celebrated the recipient of the 2020 Austen Riggs Erikson Prize for Excellence in Mental Health Media: Pulitzer-Prize-winning Washington Post reporter Hannah Dreier for “Trust and Consequences,” a painstakingly researched exploration of how US immigration authorities shattered professional standards of patient confidentiality by compelling mental health workers to turn over notes from their sessions with detained migrants to use against them in court. 

The event, which was presented live via Zoom, featured a presentation by Ms. Dreier along with remarks by Austen Riggs Center Medical Director/CEO Eric M. Plakun, MD, and renowned psychologist, psychoanalyst, and author Nancy McWilliams, PhD, ABPP
