Admissions Clinician and Manager Nicole May, LICSW, discusses what happens in the admissions interview.
So, if you've decided that you are interested in potentially pursuing treatment with Austen Riggs, a good first step is to hear from the potential patient to have an initial conversation about the
admissions process, but to answer your questions, make sure that this is really what you're ready to do. And from there, we'll schedule an interview. Usually, that interview is done by phone or by Zoom, and with one of our admissions clinicians here in the admissions office. For that interview, we'll schedule it in advance. We usually set aside about an hour, and we will ask you to make sure that you have available your current medications, your insurance information. But ultimately, it's just a space for you to provide a narrative of what's been going on for you that's led to you seeking treatment at this time. We'll go through a checklist of questions to kind of fill in the gaps, and then we'll talk about next steps from there.
