Riggs Trustee and Founder of Psych-Appeal, Meiram Bendat, JD, PhD, Testifies Before Congress

Founder of Psych-Appeal and Austen Riggs Center Trustee Meiram Bendat, JD, PhD, testified before Congress during the Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions Subcommittee–Meeting the Moment: Improving Access to Behavioral and Mental Health Care–on Thursday, April 15, 2021.
During his testimony he addresses three critical issues related to gaps in many ERISA employer-sponsored health plans (covering approximately 136 million people):
  1. Requiring medical necessity to link to generally accepted standards of care
  2. Insurance company provider network adequacy
  3. Enforcement of ERISA and the parity law
