The demand for mental health services among young people is rising rapidly, straining campus counseling, primary care, and higher levels of treatment. Presenting at the combined annual meeting of the
New England College Health Association/New York State College Health Association, the Austen Riggs Center
Online Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), in partnership with the
Vermont Consultation and Psychiatry Access Program (VTCPAP), will share insights and examples of how systems that collaborate effectively can provide students and young adults with timely and appropriate care.
Taking place on Thursday, October 16 from 12 – 1 p.m., “Collaborative Approaches to Meet Rising Mental Health Needs in Students & Young Adults” will be offered by IOP Associate Director
Seth Pitman, PhD, ABPP, and VTCPAP Medical Director Margaret Spottswood, MD, MPH.
The session highlights VTCPAP’s role in providing primary care and perinatal providers with immediate psychiatric consultation, peer-to-peer teaching, and referral assistance, and the IOP’s approach to offering a psychodynamic, team-based model designed for young adults with complex challenges.
The New England College Health Association/New York State Health Association combined meeting takes place October 15 – 17 at the Basin Harbor Resort in Vergennes, VT. Registration for the day or the entire event is available to college health professionals and others on the
event site, along with a full program for the gathering.
American College Health Association membership is not required to attend.
