Persepolis (2007, 96 minutes, directed by Vincent Paronnaud, Marjane Satrapi)

Rated PG-13 for mature thematic material including violent images, sexual references, language and brief drug content.

French with English subtitles.

Based on Marjane Satrapi's autobiographical graphic novel, this Iranian black and white animated film tells the story of an Iranian woman who has immigrated to Paris, reflecting on her coming of age amidst the Islamic revolution. Through the medium of flashbacks that tie childhood to historical memory, Perepolis explores the impact of exile on memory and identity, and the transformative potential of artistic reflection.
