Supporting the Austen Riggs Center

The Austen Riggs Center’s level of excellence in patient care, research and training owes a great deal to the financial support of generous and caring individuals, businesses and philanthropic foundations.

Austen Riggs is consistently recognized by US News and World Report as one of America’s best psychiatric hospitals. Your generosity makes the difference in our ability to offer our unique program to patients in desperate need of help and to extend our learning to serve a larger population beyond Riggs.

Your gift can be directed to any of the following areas:

General Support — supporting the overall mission of the Austen Riggs Center and enabling us to put your gift to use quickly and where it is most needed.

Clinical Care — supporting all of the programs and services directly involved with our work with patients, including patient aid, the Activites Program, and clinical outreach in our local community.

Erikson Institute General — supporting the full range of programs within our Erikson Institute.

Human Development — assisting research and community outreach that support healthy relationships from the start of life.

Neuroscience — sustaining research that examines the brain and mind in mental illness and psychotherapy.

Suicide Research — helping efforts to study suicide prevention.

Psychodynamic Psychopharmacology — supporting the study and dissemination of our unique approach to psychopharmacology.

Advocacy — bolstering our commitment to advance clinical practices and mental health policy that support a biopsychosocial approach.

Austen Riggs also has a number of naming opportunities and endowed funds, as well as The 1919 Society, a planned giving program and recognition society.

Every gift to the Austen Riggs Center helps empower another person to take charge of his or her life. Whether your gift is a gesture of kindness, a thank you for help you or someone in your family received here, an investment in the advancement of psychiatric research, scholarship, education and practice—it is meaningful, gratefully received and will be well used. We welcome gifts in honor or memory of a friend, family member or Riggs caregiver and are pleased to acknowledge donors making annual gifts of $1,000 or more with membership in the Austen Riggs Benefactor Circle.
