On behalf of the Board of Trustees of the Austen Riggs Center, Lisa A. Raskin, PhD is pleased to announce that Andrew J. Gerber, MD, PhD, will be the next medical director/CEO for the Austen Riggs Center. Dr. Gerber will begin his appointment on July 1, 2015.
The Erikson Institute (EI) develops Riggs’ connection to the larger society by promoting education and research in psychodynamic thought and treatment, by working to generate new knowledge in partnership with a range of disciplines, and by bringing a clinically informed, psychosocial perspective to societal problems.
Cathleen Morey, LICSW, director of clinical social work at the Austen Riggs Center has been granted membership in the American Family Therapy Academy (AFTA). The Academy has a rigorous application process. In addition to holding a terminal professional degree, Cathleen needed to demonstrate significant post-degree clinical experience working with families, as well as a record of scholarship, teaching and supervisory experience.
The Austen Riggs Center has again been ranked as one of the ten best hospitals for 2014-15 in Psychiatry by U.S. News & World Report. The annual U.S. News Best Hospitals rankings recognize hospitals that excel in caring for challenging patients.
