A group of Riggs employees, family members and patients participated in the first-ever Berkshire County Out of the Darkness Walk, sponsored by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP).  Over 50 staff members participated to raise awareness and dollars to fund research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy and support survivors of suicide loss in Berkshire County.

More than 275 walkers enjoyed a perfect fall day on the grounds of Berkshire Community College for the inaugural Walk, which took place on October 9.  The Riggs team raised more than $4,000 (with donations still coming in)! Riggs staff members, Bertha Connelley and Lee Watroba, organized the Riggs team and plan on participating annually in future AFSP Walks.

Riggs salutes the work of the AFSP. The Berkshire County Out of the Darkness Walk event raised more than $18,000, surpassing its initial fundraising goal of $8,000. Congratulations to Berkshire County Walk organizers.
