Austen Riggs Joins #GivingTuesday
Taking place on December 2, 2014 – the Tuesday after Thanksgiving – #GivingTuesday will use social media to create a global moment for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and the spirit of giving. Similar to how Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become days that are, today, synonymous with holiday shopping, now we have a day dedicated to giving back. This year, the Austen Riggs Center is proud to be a #GivingTuesday partner and to join in this celebration of philanthropy.
#GivingTuesday is a global movement founded in 2012 by New York’s 92nd Street Y in partnership with the United Nations Foundation that has engaged over 10,000 organizations worldwide and is designed to harness the collective power of a unique blend of partners—charities, families, businesses and individuals—to transform how people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season. Coinciding with the Thanksgiving Holiday and the kickoff of the holiday shopping season, #GivingTuesday aims to inspire people to take collaborative action to improve their local communities, give back in better, smarter ways to the charities and causes they support and help create a better world.
As you consider organizations to support, we hope you will consider the Austen Riggs Center. When you donate to the Austen Riggs Center, you are giving more than just dollars. The true value of your gift is measured by the number of lives transformed by our excellent treatment, and by the education, training and scholarship that we share with the broader professional community. The impact of your contribution extends far beyond the Riggs campus.
Whether your gift is a gesture of kindness, an expression of gratitude for help that you or a loved one received at Riggs, or an investment in the advancement of psychodynamic research, scholarship, education and training – it is meaningful, gratefully received and will be well used.
