Cathleen M. Morey, PhD, LICSW is the Director of Clinical Social Work at the Austen Riggs, where she is an administrator, clinical supervisor and consultant, family therapist and family researcher. Her scholarship and teaching are focused in the areas of interdisciplinary treatment teams, family therapy, suicidality, schizophrenia, intergenerational family dynamics and enactment of family dynamics. She is currently a member of a research team that is developing a dynamic family functioning assessment instrument.
Dr. Morey received her Master of Social Work degree and her doctorate in clinical social work from Smith College School for Social Work and completed a Graduate Certificate Program in Advanced Clinical Supervision at Smith College. She received her Bachelor’s of Science from the University of Massachusetts. Her past experience includes working as an outpatient psychotherapist in a community mental health center and as a clinician in a correctional facility. Ms. Morey has also been involved in child welfare advocacy, serving on the board of directors of a child welfare agency. She has also advocated for statewide system reform to aid children in need of permanent homes through education and legislative lobbying.
