Cathleen M. Morey, PhD, LICSW, is the director of clinical social work at the Austen Riggs Center. She provides direct patient care, family consultation and family therapy, clinical supervision and training, case consultation, and administrative management for clinical social work services. Dr. Morey’s scholarship and teaching are focused in the areas of dynamic assessment of family functioning, family therapy, intergenerational family dynamics, interdisciplinary treatment teams, and suicidality and schizophrenia. Her dissertation research investigated how psychodynamic clinicians practicing in treatment systems understood the phenomenon of system enactment and its impact on therapeutic processes and organizational climate. Dr. Morey earned her master of social work degree and her doctorate in social work from the Smith College School for Social Work and completed a graduate certificate program in Advanced Clinical Supervision at Smith College.
