Clinical Social Worker

Full Time

The clinical social worker serves as an integral member of the interdisciplinary psychodynamic treatment team. The Riggs treatment approach centers on the importance of relationships, patient authority and the meaning of symptoms. Working with psychiatrically complex adult patients and their families, social workers conduct patient and family psychosocial assessments, provide family education, consultation and family therapy, as well as dynamic casework services for patients including discharge planning.

As a member of the medical staff, you will work side by side with clinicians who are passionate and committed to Riggs’ clinical mission of helping people take charge of their lives. Our approach is grounded in the understanding that an individual’s problems are inherently meaningful and that such problems are best understood in a psychosocial context.

Social workers are immersed in an intellectually stimulating learning environment that values and supports ongoing professional development. Intensive clinical supervision is provided along with multiple learning opportunities and resources to pursue additional clinical interests such as group work, interdisciplinary committee work, research, presenting at conferences, writing for publication and participating in seminars and conferences, as well as opportunities to learn from guest lecturers and visiting scholars.

Required qualifications include:

  • MSW or PhD with LCSW or LICSW; Mass. License or eligibility.
  • Three years of experience post Masters/Doctorate.
  • Training and significant clinical experience in conducting family therapy and working from a psychodynamic perspective.
  • Demonstrated commitment to engaging issues of diversity, equity and inclusion.
