A special celebration in honor of the Austen Riggs Center's Centennial Year, September 21, 2019.

Behind the bold vision that led to the establishment of the Austen Riggs Center in 1919, there has always been a community of dedicated individuals and businesses providing strength, connection, expertise, and financial support.

Join us for a special evening celebrating the Austen Riggs Centennial, hosted by Sam Waterston, former Austen Riggs Trustee

This evening, we pay tribute to our many friends who helped Riggs achieve this major milestone. 

6:30 p.m.     Pre-performance cocktails and hors d'oeuvres
8:00 p.m.     Presentation of inaugural Four Freedoms of Mental Health Awards to Carol Gilligan, PhD,
                    and Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT)*  
8:30 p.m.     Performance, followed by dessert reception and champagne toast

*Dr. Gilligan will accept her award in person; Senator Murphy will provide video remarks.

"Chopin and the Power of Resilience"

Join us for a special evening celebrating the Austen Riggs Centennial, with Richard Kogan, MD.

A master storyteller, distinguished concert pianist, and psychiatrist, Richard Kogan's unique performance explores the role of music in healing and the influence of psychological factors and psychiatric and medical illness on the creative expression of one of the great composers.
