The Austen Riggs Center is a Psychiatric Residential Treatment Center in an open therapeutic community located in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. It is a leading center for education and research, promoting resilience and self-direction in adults (18+) with complex psychiatric problems. The center is currently hiring a Program Assistant for the Erikson Institute.
Under the general direction of the Manager of Erikson Institute Library, Archives, and Operations the Program Assistant provides administrative support to the Erikson Institute. The Program Assistant will support all virtual, hybrid, and in-person events from planning to execution and provides on-site support for events. The Program Assistant is an integral part of the Erikson Institute team, providing organizational and administrative support for the work of the Erikson Institute, including the library, archives, strategic initiatives, continuing education, and community outreach. The Program Assistant provides administrative support as needed to other departments at the Center. The ideal candidate is highly organized, able to multi-task, works independently, demonstrates proficiency in administrative, technological, and writing tasks.
Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience including Zoom event management and videoconferencing experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize assigned work and projects
  • Adaptability and flexibility to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work independently, or part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be capable of performing a variety of administrative, event, and library tasks using independent judgment.
Other Requirements:
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Erikson Institute staff, visitors, presenters, and scholars.
  • Ability to work onsite for Erikson Institute events on selected nights and weekends.
  • Ability to apply established protocol to work situations.
  • Ability to follow detailed directions and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively work with a wide variety of people.
  • Ability to take instruction from multiple sources, take initiative and follow through to assure effective outcomes.
  • Ability to identify and maintain boundaries.
  • May be required to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to climb stairs and move intermittently throughout the Center.
