Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the medical office nurse, the medical assistant supports the nurse and medical practitioners with several administrative tasks and clinical duties.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Taking patient medical histories if needed
  2. Preparing patients for examination
  3. Taking and recording vital signs
  4. Assisting the physician during exams
  5. Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
  6. Drawing blood
  7. Administering inoculations as requested
  1. Sets up in-person and Zoom consultations
  2. Schedules drivers for patient appointments as indicated
  3. Answering telephone and greeting patients
  4. Updating and filing patient medical records
  5. Verifying insurance coverage for prior authorizations for outgoing appointments.
  6. Scheduling patient internal and external medical appointments
  7. Medical transcription
  8. Handling general office correspondence and filing.
  9. Tracks PPE burn rates and orders supplies as needed.
  10. Retrieves diagnostic procedure results and submits to RN for review.
  11. Assists with onboarding of new hires (i.e., collecting COVID Vaccine cards, reading PPD).
Qualifications include:
  1. Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program or equivalent work experience; 1-2 year of medical office experience required.
  2. Current certification or attainment of certification.
  3. Current CPR and CPI training/certification (will train when hired).
  4. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  5. Ability to concentrate despite interruptions; ability to tolerate anxiety and remain reflective under stress.
  6. Maintains professional boundaries and HIPAA policies and procedures regarding PHI
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software and databases.
