Barbara P. Turner Hart, RN, MA, is the director of nursing at the Austen Riggs Center. Previously, she served as nurse educator at Riggs for the greater part of a decade. She has a long-standing commitment to the role of nursing in helping patients enhance their coping skills and in supporting patients’ efforts to put their feelings into words. Among her goals in her new role is to foster nursing education and to advance research on psychodynamic nursing.
Ms. Turner Hart received her master’s degree in psychiatric nursing from New York University and her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Boston University. During her career, she has combined teaching responsibilities with clinical practice during her career.
