The Austen Riggs Center is pleased to announce that the Accreditation Council for Psychoanalytic Education, Inc. (ACPEinc) has given a full seven year accreditation to the four-year Fellowship program in psychoanalytic studies at Riggs.
The accreditation of the Austen Riggs Fellowship, which is one of only twelve programs in the country to receive this designation, follows several years of preparation, a careful self-study and a thorough three-day site visit by four psychoanalysts from the ACPEinc in October of 2013.
ACPEinc accreditation affirms that the Riggs Fellowship program in psychoanalytic studies meets rigorous standards for psychoanalytic training and gives Riggs membership and standing with other accredited psychoanalytic training programs. The Accreditation Council for Psychoanalytic Education (ACPEinc) is an autonomous not-for-profit accrediting agency that was established in 2001 by The Psychoanalytic Consortium to implement its Standards for Psychoanalytic Education. These Standards delineate the CORE (essential) elements of psychoanalytic education. The Standards include a tripartite model of training – personal analysis, didactic instruction, supervised clinical work. The ACPEinc Standards are inclusive, accommodating the full range of theories and training traditions. For more information on ACPEinc, visit: www.acpeinc.org .
