“Being a Therapist” is a collection of photographic portraits featuring psychotherapists in the privacy of their offices accompanied by short first-person essays or interviews. Sebastian Zimmermann, a New York based psychiatrist and photographer, captured practitioners of various stripes in their unique, architectural spaces. Dr. Zimmermann’s stunning photographs and poignant essays aim to rediscover some of the poetry and magic inherent in clinical practice. They provide the reader with an aesthetic, visual experience of the fascinating, multi-facetted nature of what was once called “the impossible profession”. The fine art book will be available in 2013 and will include Riggs clinicians. Read more: Psychiatric Times article on Martin S. Bergmann (pictured) by Dr. Zimmermann.
