It is with great pleasure and anticipation that I begin my first week as Medical Director/CEO of the Austen Riggs Center. Riggs has not only maintained a level of stability and trueness to its mission of providing longer term psychiatric treatment based on intensive psychotherapy, it has become one of America’s finest psychiatric hospitals. I am privileged to carry on this unparalleled work with such a talented and dedicated staff.
The health of the institution and strong leadership and clinical teams will allow me the opportunity to immerse myself in the work so that I can begin to take in the culture of the organization and assume my clinical responsibilities. I look forward to using this page to reflect on my learning over the coming weeks and months.
