Supporting the Austen Riggs Center

Riggs is stable financially, but our longer-term, intensive treatment approach for "treatment-resistant" patients remains unique to mainstream psychiatric medicine which is based on shorter hospital stays. Recognized by US News and World Report over the past five years as one of America’s best psychiatric hospitals, our small institution -- unlike all the others on that list -- stands alone without the financial support of a major medical center.

We need your support to continue to provide this unique care to patients in desperate need of help and to extend our treatment model to serve a larger population beyond Riggs. Your gift can be directed to any of the following areas:

Patient Aid to enable patients to prolong their stay at Austen Riggs when needed.
Erikson Institute Education and Outreach to enable Riggs to extend the impact of its work to the larger mental health field and to the general public.
Erikson Institute Research to help us learn more about our treatment methods and the patients we serve and to impact the mental health field.
Capital projects to ensure the comfort of our patients by enhancing our facilities.
Activities Program including the Montessori School, Lavender Door, Drama Program and Greenhouse.
General Fund to enable us to use your gift where it is most needed.
