The Riggs Blog is a mix of news about clinical work, research and educational activities from the Austen Riggs Center, as well as a source for information beyond our walls that we find interesting and thought-provoking.
The recent 60 Minutes piece and Terry’s blog about her experience speaking to managed care reviewers are moving, powerful and frustrating. The draconian procedures sometimes used by managed care organizations make it hard to remember that, in fact, they operate from the same “limited resources” moral imperative as the environmental movement.
Austen Riggs held a blog competition among staff members where we asked them to write about what makes Riggs unique. This is the second blog in the series, written by one of our Admissions Coordinators Nicki May.
On November 9-10, the Erikson Institute for Education and Research at the Austen Riggs Center hosted a working conference entitled Psychodynamic Training in Psychology: Crises, Challenges, and Opportunities. Attendees consisted of individuals from 22 psychodynamically oriented training programs in the USA and Canada.
We offer a two-year Fellowship in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, and a four-year Fellowship in advanced psychoanalytic psychotherapy and psychoanalytic studies.
