Annual Austen Riggs Center Scholarship Awarded to Graduating Berkshire Community College Student.
June 11, 2014 – Stockbridge, MA – The Austen Riggs Center Scholarship, given annually since 1977 to a graduating student from Berkshire Community College (BCC) who has exhibited academic excellence in the Behavioral Sciences, has been awarded this year to Misty Cooper.
Selected by the faculty of the Behavioral Sciences Department at BCC, the recipient receives a $500 check, an invitation to one of the fall Friday Night Guest Lectures at Riggs and their name engraved on a plaque at BCC.
Speaking about her education, Ms. Cooper said, “When I was laid off from my job, I decided that it was time to finally pursue a degree. I am so glad I did because it has been one of the best experiences of my life, and thanks to Austen Riggs, I have support in my continuation of this incredible journey.”
Ms. Cooper will be attending Elms College in the fall, with the aim of receiving a bachelor’s degree in social work. Prior to attending BCC, Ms. Cooper worked in the human services field for over 10 years as a residential house manager for mental health agencies.
The Austen Riggs Center congratulates Ms. Cooper on her scholarship and commitment to the field of Behavioral Sciences.
