Alumni Association

The Austen Riggs Center Alumni Association – the first of its kind - was established in 1995 to support the mission of Riggs. What began as informal gatherings of former patients has grown into a national network of close to 300 former patients, former staff, and former trustees. Alumni members support the institution through various gatherings and activities; for example, Alumni Association members played a pivotal role in the making of a Riggs documentary film for the Public Television series, Visionaries.

Alumni reconnect through monthly meetings, updates through the Connections newsletter, regular alumni reunions, and other special projects or events. Alumni Association members return to Riggs periodically to meet with current patients for a discussion about the experience of leaving Riggs.

If you are a former patient, staff or trustee, and would like to join the Alumni Association, please contact Lee Watroba at (413) 931-5284. Former patients become eligible to join the organization one year after being discharged from the Austen Riggs Center.
