Registered Nurses- Per diem

Our Staff Nurses are responsible for the provision of a safe and growth promoting community environment in at the Inn. The focus is on the establishment of a therapeutic relationship, which maximizes the dignity of individual patients through support of their healthy, adaptive functioning. The Staff Nurses provide medical care, according to physician’s orders, and directs and guides other personnel in the delivery of nursing care.

Required qualifications include:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. B.S.N. Preferred.
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts.
  • Previous nursing experience required; psychiatric nursing experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of people and maintain patients’ rights at all times.
  • Physical stamina needed for evening, night and weekend work.
  • Ability to concentrate despite interruptions, to tolerate anxiety and remain reflective under stress. Must demonstrate ability to make use of one’s own affects to use them in the service of responding in role.
  • Ability to use computer, telephone, fax and other office equipment.

Mental Health Worker

Full Time Evening Shift

This full time position will work under the supervision of the Charge Nurse and is responsible for the provision of a safe and growth promoting community environment at The Austen Riggs Center..

Required qualifications include:

  • Candidates must possess experience in a hospital or related mental health setting; B.A. or B.S. in psychology or related field practice strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, with the demonstrated ability to effectively work independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of people and maintain patients’ rights at all times.

Director of Human Resources

Full Time - Salaried

This Senior Management position reports directly to the Medical Director/CEO and is responsible for the planning, development and implementation of human resources goals and objectives to maximize the staffing utilization and stability of a competent workforce. This position manages recruitment and selection, salary and wage administration, performance evaluation administration, benefits planning and employment regulation compliance.

Required qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Social Science or related field preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in Human Resources with related administrative and professional duties.
  • Healthcare administration experience strongly preferred with an understanding of Joint Commission Standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with employees, managers and outside contacts.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of employment and benefit laws required.
  • Previous interviewing experience with decision-making responsibilities also required.
  • Ability to work effectively on multiple tasks, dealing with a variety of issues.
  • Must also possess effective problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

Therapeutic Community Group and Event Coordinator

Full Time- Schedule to include evening and weekend hours

Under the supervision of the Community Center Manager, the person in this position works with patients and staff in the development, management and provision of recreational and educational groups and activities aimed at community building across the continuum of care and fostering the integration of individual patients in the therapeutic community.

Required qualifications include:

  • Bachelor level college degree in Psychology, Social Work or other related field, or graduate of an approved Nursing Program coupled with applicable work experience with groups; Applicable license or certification preferred.
  • Group relations training an asset.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and leadership capacities, interpersonal and group skills and in-depth understanding of the values and underlying philosophy of the program.
  • Experience in a therapeutic community setting preferred.
  • Demonstrated support of values and philosophy of open setting. Ability to work flexibly and effectively with a wide variety of people.
  • Ability to move frequently between buildings, sitting for extended periods of time and limited lifting. Capacity to engage in and lead physical activities (e.g., hikes).
  • Mental aptitude needed to quickly move from one assignment to another.
  • Ability to use computer, telephone and other office equipment.
